Scania in talks about Northvolt purchase

The lorry manufacturer Scania, together with other parties, considers a purchase of Northvolt’s development centre in Västerås, Ekot reports.
– We are among those who are prepared to put maximum effort into this but we neither can nor want to do it on our own, Scania MD Christian Levin told the radio programme.

The Scania group are not interested in buying the factory in Skellefteå, only the development centre in Västerås, according to Ekot.

On Tuesday Ekot reported that a first bid has been placed on the entirety of Northvolt’s activities. They are now also reporting that the lorry manufacturer Scania are in talks in order to, together with a handful of other companies, purchase the development centre in Västerås.

– We are among those who are prepared to put maximum effort into this but we neither can or want to do it on our own, Scania MD Christian Levin told the radio show.

Scania is the only company that has publicly stated that it wants to buy parts of the bankruptcy estate but which the other companies are that may potentially want to make the purchase together with the lorry manufacturer is not something that Christian Levin wants to divulge, according to Ekot.
