No operator has shown an interest in taking over the night traffic between Stockholm and northern Norrland, reports järnvägar.nu. The tender deadline was on 3 June.

– We have no explanation for this, I don't know why this situation has arisen, says Dan Lundholm, contract manager at the Transport Administration to the website.

The trains are now operated by SJ, which will continue doing so until December next year.

Jan Kyrk, head of business at SJ, says in a comment to järnvägar.nu that SJ never comments procurement processes the company takes part in but that it is ”obvious” that SJ has not put in a bid this time.

He also says that SJ would like to continue running the night trains but that the conditions of the tender process must be realistic.
