– We’re eager to get started with construction. We’re sometimes asked whether we’ll begin building from one end or the other, but in fact, we’re starting construction in several places simultaneously, says Maria Erlandsson, unit manager.
The section between Dåva and Skellefteå is the initial focus, where approximately 20 percent of the affected forest will be cleared in the first year. Areas deemed most critical for construction, such as those near essential access roads, are being prioritised.
The work will continue through summer, autumn, and winter, depending on ground conditions and accessibility. In Skellefteå, clearing is scheduled for winter in wet areas where birds usually nest.
The clearing work will be noticeable in affected areas, involving noise from machinery and transportation, as well as temporary access restrictions.
The work, which begins in June, will be carried out in stages and is scheduled to continue through 2027 and 2028.
