The first of four “Music at Bryggarbacken” nights takes place on Tuesday July 8. But it’s the final show, on July 29, that’s likely to draw the biggest crowd. That’s when Skellefteå’s current best-known artists – David Lindgren, Cimberly and Dad Harmony – will take to the stage. They’ll be joined by punk band Röda Naglar and veteran revue performers Mats & Bengt, who will host the evening.

– It feels fantastic to have put together such a strong line-up this year – and to bring together the local cultural cognoscenti for a powerful final night. With everything that’s happened in Skellefteå recently with Northvolt, we need to come together. We need to meet up and make it about something joyful, says Thomas “Linge” Lindgren from main organiser Skellefteå Musikaliska, speaking to Norran.

He explains that a partnership with ICA Kvantum has made it possible to deliver a spectacular final show. The supermarket was named Sweden’s Store of the Year last November.

– Winning an award like that is like taking home the Swedish championship. Now we want to give something back to as many Skellefteå locals and customers as we can. This event is a perfect fit. We want to offer a night that appeals to a wide audience, says ICA retailer Peter Jonsson.

The organisers also have another announcement: on July 22, The Drowners are making a comeback. In the 1990s, the Skellefteå band was one of the city’s biggest musical exports, enjoying major international success.

– Last autumn we picked up the acoustic guitars at Sara kulturhus and found something we thought we’d lost – the desire to play live again. Getting up on stage in Skellefteå this summer, for the first time in over a decade, feels really good, says guitarist, Leif Renström.

Lindgren also wants to highlight the other two nights, which will feature jazz act JoRoJo Trio & Elin Belani and hard rockers Barons Court.

– I’m not a hard rocker myself, but I’ve seen Barons Court and they’re really good – very musical. And we’ll kick off the series with a wonderful jazz night that promises top-quality performances.

Here are the artists performing:

July 8: JoRoJo Trio & Elin Belani – fresh young jazz
