UPDATE: Mon, 12:00
At 11 a.m. on Monday morning, two police forensic experts and a dog handler were seen conducting a crime scene investigation within the cordon.

– They are standing by these cones and investigating with a dog, says Norran's reporter Frida Öhman.

She has spoken to the dog handler who said that the cordon may be lifted when the investigation is complete.

Åsa Mjörndal, communications officer at the police command centre, confirms that it concerns a suspected rape.

– The rape is reported to have taken place outdoors. The victim is an adult woman, she said.

She declined to say whether the victim knows the suspected perpetrator.

– The police are carrying out investigative measures, including interviews and securing of evidence. No one has been taken into custody. A location has been cordoned-off pending a forensic investigation.

Is the police searching for someone?

– The investigation is at a sensitive stage, so I can’t comment on that. I don’t want to risk harming the investigation.

Was it a stranger assault?

– I can’t go into any more detail, said Mjörndal.

When Norran reporter Johanna Sandgren arrived at the scene early on Monday morning, the police cordon was still in place. It stretches along a pedestrian and cycle path in the area and extends partway into the forest.

– I can see the full perimeter from where I’m standing. It doesn’t cross the railway line but goes a bit into the forest, up a slope, she said.

A Securitas guard was on site to monitor the area.

– They’re here to make sure no one enters. Inside the cordon I can see cones and a white tarpaulin a bit into the forest. I also see a bicycle thrown by the side of the path.

There was no other activity.

– Someone who works in the area came by to ask what’s going on. Otherwise, it’s quiet here.

The police operation is believed to have continued until midnight.

– There is no danger to the public in the area, said police RLC officer Nora Fällman to Norran at around 6am on Monday.
