On Sunday, August 10, Umeå District Court ordered the remand of a 60-year-old man on probable cause of aggravated tax fraud. He was arrested on August 8 after being apprehended in absentia on July 27, the same day as several other suspects.

He is from the same European country as one of the other men. He is the sixth person linked to the suspected large-scale illegal cigarette operation at the old dairy in Broänge, just outside Lövånger.

The fifth suspect was also remanded in custody for aggravated tax fraud by Skellefteå District Court on Friday. He was arrested on August 5, as Norran previously reported. This man, also in his 60s, is from Västerbotten but lives in central Sweden.

He has a criminal record, including a conviction in September 2022 for serious unlawful dealing with smuggled goods after transporting over 900 liters of spirits.

Both men denied the allegations and opposed being taken into custody during their separate remand hearings on Friday and Sunday.

Of the six men suspected, one remains at large.
