In zone 1, which includes Skellefteå, Malå, Norsjö and all of Norrbotten, the electricity price was at a record low in June. The spot price, that is the cost price for the power companies, was at SEK 0.3 per kilowatt hour. That is the price of using a 40 watt light bulb for 25 hours.
However, that is not the price the consumer pays. After fees to the power companies and electricity taxes of around SEK 0.55 per kilowatt-hour the price is significantly higher.
The majority of the energy comes from hydropower which represents almost 39 per cent of all electricity being distributed. Generally the electricity price goes down in summer when the demand on the power plants is reduced.
