Earlier this summer, Mikael Kubu said he hoped a deal would be finalised within a few weeks, but nothing has been signed yet.
The bankruptcy trustee told Norran on Monday:
– We are in an intensive sales process.

Mikael Kubu, the bankruptcy trustee for assets including Northvolt’s battery factory in Skellefteå, said over the summer that several binding bids had been made for the bankrupt estate.

However, when Norran reached him on Monday, he did not want to speculate on when a deal might be finalised.

– The sales process is at a sensitive stage, so at the moment I can’t make any statements at all. I don’t want to disrupt the process, he said.

Do you have any sense of the timeline?

– I do, but I will only communicate it once I know more.

He still won’t say how many or which parties have placed bids for the business, but says they are in an “intensive sales process.”

– I hope you’ll get some more precise answers in due time, said Kubu.

When asked how long the bankrupt estate can afford to maintain the factory while waiting for a new owner, he said several factors come into play—not least the level of support they may receive from creditors.

– We’re doing what we can to ensure the best possible outcome, he said.

Northvolt was declared bankrupt on March 12 this year.
