The news that Scandic will start charging for hotel breakfast was released on Tuesday. The reason for the change stated by Scandic themselves it that they thereby “offer more flexibility” by guests being able to opt out of breakfast and get a cheaper stay.
– We now offer more flexibility so that we can tailor the experience to the guest’s wishes. You can add breakfast to your booking, choose to bring something light to eat or completely refrain from breakfast. The choice can be made before arrival or at the hotel, says the head of communications for Scandic Finland, Johanna Uimonen, to SVT Uutiset on Tuesday morning.
Norran has contacted Scandic in Skellefteå to find out what will apply at this hotel. However, the hotel management does not want to answer questions but instead refers to the Scandic spokesperson Malin Selander.
