Last week Mikael Kubu told Norran that five different stakeholders have shown an interest in buying Northvolt’s bankruptcy estate which includes Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå. All interested companies are foreign.
– I can say that we are in relatively extensive negotiations with several parties. Several parties intend to put in a bid, he said.
It is however unclear when exactly a contract can be signed but Kubu now tells TT that:
– My hope is within a few weeks.
The factory in Skellefteå closed 30 June. Only a smaller number of staff remain in order to maintain machines and deal with hazardous waste. Regarding the sale of the factory Mikael Kubu has previously said that there is a race against time to rehire people who have been made redundant.
– The difficulty is that it has to move fast, otherwise we will only have machines to sell and the buyer is of course also interested in the staff, he said last week.
