Sweden hikes work permit salary threshold with immediate effect Statistics Sweden’s latest figures show the country’s median salary rose to SEK 37,100 in 2024 — a move that directly impacts the minimum pay needed for non-EU nationals to secure a work permit.

Until 17 June, the minimum salary was 28,480 kronor before tax. But from that date it has gone up to SEK 29,680, reflecting 80 percent of the new median salary. Work permits will also continue to be approved only if salaries are in line with industry standards or collective agreements.
