Despite it being a sunny morning, Falkträskbadet is almost empty.
The first days of July has delivered sun over Skellefteå but the larger part of June was cloudy and rainy – and wetter than normal, according to the weather service SMHI.
On the Wednesday morning there is only one party of swimmers at Falkträskbadet even though it is sunny, the air is warm and there are just a few wispy clouds interspersed in the sky. At Vitbergsbadet however, there are more.
Sun loungers, blankets and picnic baskets – the families were enjoying themselves by the water.
Just after 11 am a thin cloud layer parked itself in the sky.
Some people celebrated being on holiday with a dip in the pool.
My Björkbom, 19, and Alva Öhgren, 21, who work at the pool says that it is one of the better days of the season so far.
– There hasn’t been a lot of people, except for yesterday and last Thursday, My Björkbom says.
She is working her second summer at Vitbergsbadet and can compare the number of visitors with last year.
It's the weather that determines how many swimmers turn up, says My Björkbom and Alva Öhgren.
The clouds came and went – but the sun was quite warm when it turned up.
– There were a lot more last summer. I remember there being more sunny days, even though there were bad ones as well.
However, it has never been completely empty, Alva Öhgren says.
– Sometimes there are three people, sometimes 20 so it depends completely on the weather. Some come here even when it’s raining, that’s pretty impressive, she says.
Some people who have had time to visit the pool several times – in spite of the absent summer weather – is Elina Bergmark and her daughters Ebba and Elvira Lindgren.
– We have been here every sunny day. We bought a season pass so we’ve been here a lot but there has not been many other people here, says Elina Bergmark.
”We love the water”, says Elina Bergmark, 33, who has already gone swimming several times with her children Ebba and Elvira Lindgren.
The whole family likes being in the water and Elvira Lindgren points to one of the slides she has conquered.
– It’s great progress. They learn a lot from going swimming, Elina Bergmark says.
