The Viktoria bridge is expected to be under extra heavy load when the other bridges in the city centre are closed
The municipality is urging people to walk or cycle instead. Both bridges will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists, though short closures may occur. Obviously, if you don't live in the city centre, or are taking children to school, walking or cycling are unlikely to be possible.
Here are some alternative routes for those who want to avoid the chaos but who also can’t take the bus.
Sundgrund bridge at Skelleftehamn
If you live south of the river and your destination is in the city centre on the north side:
From Örviken, Bureå, Burvik, Lövånger and other villages, drive via the Sundgrund bridge or the bridge at Bergsbydammen.
From Burträsk, Bygdeträsk, Bygdsiljum and other villages, drive via Skråmträsk and take the bridge at Klutmarksdammen to reach the north side.
If you live in Bodbysund, Lappvattnet, Vebomark, Hjoggböle, Långviken or similar villages, there are no real alternatives unless you want to take a long detour. Viktoriabron is your only option.
The bridge at Bergsbydammen
If you live north of the river and your destination is on the south side of the city:
From Skelleftehamn, Ursviken and Bergsbyn: Cross the river at Bergsbydammen.
From Medle and nearby villages: Cross the river at Klutmarksdammen.
If you live in Kåge, Ersmark, Drängsmark, Byske or similar villages, there are no real alternatives unless you’re prepared to take a longer route. Viktoriabron is your only option.
